For my proposal gifts, I made an Irish Wedding Goblet, a ring, and box (to hold the ring so that I don’t lose it). An Irish/Celtic Wedding Goblet is a goblet with two rings, captured around the stem. Back in the old days, an apprentice woodworker would make one to show his proposed bride that he had enough skill to be a supporting husband. It’s turned from the same piece of wood and the rings have to be made within the confines of the bowl and base of the goblet.
The twist with this goblet is that the rings are intertwined – they pass through each other as well as around the stem.
The goblet is made from cherry, the ring and box from bubinga.
